The ChiNext board has raised nearly 200 billion yuan in financing, with 178 venture capital-backed companies participating.
Data from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) shows that the ChiNext market's support for the development of innovative enterprises has gradually become apparent since its launch over two years ago. By the end of 2011, ChiNext-listed companies had raised a total of 195.913 billion yuan.
It is reported that the ChiNext market has further improved the financing chain for innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, providing much-needed funds for their development. Many projects that were previously stalled due to funding bottlenecks have been implemented. After listing, companies have seen a significant increase in brand influence, more standardized operations, and attracted more excellent talent, leading to new stages of development.
The ChiNext market's promotion of strategic emerging industries is also gradually taking effect. According to statistics, among the companies listed on ChiNext after its launch, 88.19% are in strategic emerging industries such as new energy, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, electronic information, advanced manufacturing, and biomedicine. In 2009 and 2010, the total R&D investment of ChiNext-listed companies was 2.601 billion yuan and 3.591 billion yuan respectively, accounting for 3.30% and 4.56% of their total operating revenue.
In addition, the launch of the ChiNext market has improved the multi-tiered capital market system, enriched investment exit channels, improved the financial mechanism supporting technological development and innovation, and accelerated the industrialization of technological achievements. According to statistics, 178 of the listed companies have received venture capital investment, accounting for 63.35%, and 259 are high-tech enterprises, accounting for 92.17%.
Statistics also show that by the end of 2011, the CSRC had received applications from 630 companies for listing on ChiNext, completing the review of 442 companies; held 220 meetings of the issuance review committee, reviewing 376 companies and approving 314; and 281 companies were listed, with a total market capitalization of 743.379 billion yuan.
